description text while mouse-over

Don’t know if there’s a name for it: when one moves the mouse over a item (hwich has probably a link to another in- or external page) a small softyellow box with explaining text appears. It’s also on this site. I’d like to use it on a map, when you mouse-over elements will appear telling visitors what’s on that map. Like snapshots, but not that big.
