animation video html 5

Use an HTML5 Video tag as the background to your page. This will work in modern browsers, and falls back to a static image in older or non-standard browsers.

You will need to provide three to four files to use this Action: a poster image in any Freeway-friendly graphic format, an H.264 MPEG file, and an Ogg video file or a WebM file. Miro Encoder is a great free (but no controls) option for creating your Ogg and WebM versions, and iMovie or QuickTime 7 MoviePlayer can export in H.264 MPEG4 format or a PICT still image poster frame.

  1. Draw a Graphics box anywhere on the page or pasteboard, and import a poster image for your video. Resize the box to fit your image.
  2. Use the Actions palette interface to select your H.264 MPEG, Ogg, and WebM video files (MPEG and one of the other two are required).
  3. Choose if you want the video to loop or not.

That’s all you need to do.

Hi Walter, I love this action thanks. As well as your others. Thanks for your hard work.

Question about the video background. Below is a link to a site I am using it on. I'm having the issue of all my links going dead on the page. I've tried to set the z-index to -1 for the background and all the buttons as 99, 98 and so on. Also sending to back.

I tried posting a forum withsoftpress but haven't had any luck with responses.

Any help would be appreciated. Here is the link: http://andrettiracing.com

Hi Wes

Did you build that site in freeway? If so how did you do the Johnny Boy Show image on the left of the screen where its says Voted Number One.

Looks great by the way!

It seems when importing the .png file 'pass through', Freeway only will publish the background-video and ignore all other content. Re-import the .png plain (without 'pass through' checked), and Freeway publishes the complete page.

Bummer! Went to check out the website mentioned above: http://andrettiracing.com and now it is a damned WordPress site!

Another very good way to convert your video files to the format that you need that is very Mac friendly is by using VLC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m9hd5n3EnY
